About the team
Greater Sydney Finance & Commercial manage the finances, risks and performance for Greater Sydney. Greater Sydney Finance & Commercial works collaboratively across the client branches providing investment governance and assurance advice, strategic planning,
performance analysis and financial management to ensure that all projects and services are delivered through an affordable and sustainable way.
Right now, we have an opportunity for a commercially astute Senior Manager - Risk & Audit to join the team. In this role you lead the investigation, analysis and assessment of risk. You will be responsible for the design and implementation of strategies and processes which mitigate threats to the successful delivery of the Division's business plans, major initiatives and projects to ensure they are delivering desired outcomes.
You will lead a small team of risk & audit analysts and manage the allocation of work to the team, while acting as an escalation point for complex or contentious matters. You will become a trusted advisor and fully accountable for the quality and integrity of the advice provided. With the customer at the heart, a collaborative and inclusive approach will see you succeed in this role.
Key accountabilities of the role include:
- Developing and implementing the Division's risk and audit management plan and strategy
- Communicating the expectations and obligations through Senior Executives and Managers
- Monitoring and reporting on performance to improve the Division's risk profile.
- Delivering regular risk analysis reports to the Deputy Secretary and Senior Executives, complete with actionable plans for avoidance or prevention of possible threats at all levels.
- Identifying and detecting strategic threats to reputation, financial sustainability, operational efficiency, people, and safety to fully develop an understanding of the Division's risk exposure.
- Conducting regular risk assessments and assurance reviews
- Leading a small team
You are tertiary qualified with extensive experience in management of enterprise and operational risk, in a large complex matrix environment. You will have a demonstrated understanding of the design, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of risk management frameworks, strategies, processes and systems.
The executive leadership team will be your key stakeholders and so you will have superior skills in building strong relationships with executives, regulators and board risk committees. You are collaborative, proactive and will ensure that risk mitigation strategies support the business needs, improve the organisations overall risk mitigation requirements, while also being cost effective.
