Who we are looking for?

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a PSL4 Team Leader role in the Health and Recreation Centre (HRC), Corporate Operations Branch.

This is a unique opportunity to work within the HRC at Australian Parliament House, the meeting place of our nation and one of our nation’s most important buildings. 

The HRC provides fitness services to over 600 members, including Parliamentarians. The Centre offers a variety of cardio and weight training equipment, a range of group fitness classes and develops tailored individual fitness programs to help clients meet their goals. Additional facilities include a swimming pool, squash courts, spa,

and sauna/steam room and access to outdoor tennis courts, playing fields and multipurpose courts. 

The Team Leader plays a key role in coordinating the daily operational requirements of the HRC. The role is responsible for supervising a small team together with external providers to deliver quality health and wellbeing services to high level stakeholders in Parliament House. The role is responsible for upholding high level customer service and maintaining a functional, clean and safe environment for all HRC users. The role will include reception work, supervision of the gym and pool areas and the delivery of regular group fitness classes which includes the clear communication of safe instructions and quality exercise techniques.

The successful candidate will have excellent presentation, exceptional customer service skills and experience in managing a team. They will need to work cohesively to motivate their team, while progressing key operational priorities. The Team Leader will also need to ensure that the HRC operates effectively with all policies and procedures. They must also have strong communication skills, and a professional approach when providing advice and support to a diverse clientele. 

To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate experience in managing a health and fitness facility or management of a similar diverse customer service team.

The range of physical duties required to undertake this role include; squatting, bending, twisting, reaching and stretching. Successful candidates must be available to work a range of shifts between, but not limited to the hours of 6.00am to 8.00pm.

Eligibility and/or Job Specific Requirements

Possession of, or the ability to acquire within agreed timeframe, the following qualifications and registrations:

• Certificate IV in Fitness (or equivalent)

• Fitness Australia Registration

• First Aid Certificate

• Bronze Medallion (pool lifesaving)

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.
