Full time (35 hours/week) Fixed term for 12 months (Parental leave cover)

Level 5: $75K-85K Plus 17% Superannuation and Leave loading

The Kirby Institute is a leading global research institute dedicated to the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. Established in 1986 in response to the then emerging HIV epidemic, the Kirby Institute now contributes to knowledge on a broad range of diseases, including viral hepatitis and sexually transmissible infections. The Kirby Institute aims to find ways to control infections, develop new therapies and preventative vaccines,

as well as providing critical leadership to decision makers in Australia and internationally on the most effective, efficient and sustainable strategies to address epidemics.

We are looking to appoint an Administrative Officer (Parental leave cover) who will be responsible for the administrative support to the Sexual Health Program (SHP) and Surveillance, Evaluation & Research Program (SERP) at the Kirby Institute. This position plays a key role in undertaking a broad range of administrative functions including support for individual project activities, responsibility for the Program Heads’ diaries, and the coordination of meetings, tele/videoconferences and associated documentation.

Skills and Experience

A degree or diploma, and/or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any combination of work experience in a similar administrative position in an academic, medical or research environment.

Demonstrated experience providing administrative and research support with the ability to work well under pressure with attention to detail and accuracy.

Sound interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise with a diverse group of people from varying backgrounds and seniority.

Excellent organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a capacity to meet deadlines and manage workloads.

Strong computer skills, including MS Office (including PowerPoint and Excel), Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
