About the team
The Finance portfolio is responsible for driving the University’s financial strategy and compliance. We provide a high quality,
responsive financial management and advisory service. With the implementation of the University’s 2025 strategic plan, now is an exciting time to join us in a key leadership role to support the development and delivery of detailed strategic plans to drive and secure long-term financial sustainability for the University to support the ambitious strategic objectives.
The Financial Compliance team consists of the University Transactional Services, Payroll, External Reporting and Tax, Treasury & Investments and our Financial Applications team and will be a key pillar to driving compliance with our financial sustainability strategy
About the opportunity
As the appointee, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective performance of the Financial Compliance teams, supporting the development of finance as a strategic business partner to the University, operating under a risk management continuous improvement mantra, including system and process development and optimisation.
You will have direct responsibility for the financial compliance risk and governance framework, including internal controls, and work with internal stakeholders to consult and oversee the development and implementation of continuous improvements to internal systems, processes, and policies with a focus on taking finance on a transformation journey.
You will serve as the first point of contact on regulatory obligations and Audit.
You will possess successful leadership experience within the private or public sector and will have a record of providing financial management services in a large matrix organisation. You will demonstrate substantial experience in strategic and operational management in compliance with an ability to adapt quickly and manage multiple activities in accordance with business requirements.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and as a key member of the Finance executive team, you will be expected to be an active and enthusiastic contributor to the strategic direction and management of Finance, driving culture, capability and transformation in advancement of the University’s strategic priority of long term financial sustainability.
You will possess energy, drive and exceptional stakeholder management skills across a wide range of people with an ability to coach and develop staff to deliver excellent results and drive transformational change in financial management.
