Provide executive leadership in the Office of General Counsel in the Department of Premier and Cabinet providing legal advice to our Ministers and the Department on complex public law matters.

Lead and provide expert technical advice on complex public law matters, including constitutional matters, the treaty process, the State's response to the historic Yoo-rrook Justice Commission, freedom of information, privacy and other administrative law matters.

Executive level opportunity within the Office of General Counsel at DPC, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel.

The Office of the General Counsel provides strategic legal and policy advice to the Premier, DPC Ministers and other DPC branches.

The Public Law Team provides strategic and high quality legal and policy advice to the Premier and Executive Government on public and administrative law issues, Aboriginal cultural heritage and lands issues, Parliamentary processes, and the establishment and operation of public inquiries.

The Freedom of Information and Privacy Team is responsible for responding to requests, providing advice and ensuring compliance with the

Freedom of Information Act 1982

and the

Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014.

The Office is looking for a hard-working and experienced Executive to support the Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel in overseeing the delivery of high quality legal services by the Public Law team and Freedom of Information and Privacy team.Experience in providing technically excellent advice in complex legal areas, preferably in relation to administrative and public law, royal commissions, judicial review litigation, and/or Victorian constitutional law, is required.
