Sarah Redfern High School is a comprehensive high school in the area of South Western Sydney with an enrolment of 618 students including 62% from a non- English speaking background and 8% Aboriginal students. The school has recently undergone transformation in its management and executive structure and has a very successful middle schooling strategy in place. The school has introduced a wide variety of innovative curriculum initiatives across all stages, with significant improvement in student learning outcomes. Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Modern History, History (Years 7-10) & Society and Culture. 

Approval and/or willingness to teach Legal Studies & History Extension.

Willingness to teach and/or skills and experience in Sports Coaching. 

Knowledge and experience in delivering HSIE subjects using strong pedagogical practice to create an engaging classroom.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive learning relationships with staff, students and parents in order to improve student learning outcomes.

Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of the English/HSIE faculty, contribute to assessment and resource development and support whole school initiatives.

Capacity to develop innovative and differentiated teaching and learning programs that engage a diverse range of students including those students who identify as being an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
