The Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission (MHWC) has two exciting employment opportunities available within the Lived Experience Stream for highly motivated individuals who are ready to progress their policy and project management skills and contribute their lived experience perspective towards supporting the meaningful work of the MHWC.

About the role:
Reporting to the Manager, Lived Experience, the Senior Policy Officer, Lived Experience roles are responsible for developing policies and coordinating projects to support the work of the Lived Experience Stream.
There are two fixed term (until 26 June 2026) vacant roles currently available:
Senior Policy Officer,



Lived Experience (Consumer)
Senior Policy Officer, Lived Experience (Carer)
These are designated lived experience roles. For more information about the duties and accountabilities for each role refer to the attached Positions Descriptions.
The Lived Experience Stream provides critical internal consultancy across the full range of Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission (MHWC) functions (includes complaints, stakeholder engagement, and performance monitoring) to ensure lived experience perspectives shape reform and are embedded in the new mental health and wellbeing system. The Lived Experience Stream is also building a portfolio of work through a range of projects related to functions set out in the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 (the Act).
About us:
The MHWC is an accountability body in the mental health and wellbeing system established under the new Act and recommended by the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System. The new MHWC includes Commissioners with lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress and lived experience as a family member, carer,



or supporter.

How you'll make a difference:
You are:
Someone with lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress as a consumer and able to work from a lived experience perspective.
Or
Someone who brings a lived experience of caring for someone with a mental illness or psychological distress, and understands the broader issues experienced by carers, families, and supporters, and service provision in the public mental health system.
And
Enthusiastic about applying your policy development and delivery and project management skills to support meaningful and rewarding work.
Self-motivated and a team player.
Share a passion for driving continuous improvement in the mental health sector.
